Teachers: Participate in our pilot!
Help fight the Summer Reading Slide!
We are looking for elementary school teachers to join our pilot program exploring how innovative technology combined with great teachers can help fight the battle against the summer reading slump! Research has proven that reading out loud every day will ensure a young child builds on success earned at school and encourage the love of reading. That said, we know this is hard to follow especially over the summer and can sometimes be a frustrating process for parents. This can make a teacher's job extra difficult come September!
We are currently recruiting a small number of teachers to participate in an experimental pilot program over the summer weeks. The teachers will read online with children going into Gr.2 who are average to slightly below average readers.
$20/hour for a minimum of 15 hours to a maximum of 25 hours ($300 - $500 for the summer).
Sessions to be completed in the comfort of your home. All you need is an Apple iPad 2 or higher and reliable internet service.
The opportunity to participate in an innovation in educational technology that, if successful, has great potential for scale.
Be available two hours each week - Complete 2X15 minute reading sessions with each of your designated children each week. Each teacher will be assigned 2-4 kids, for a total commitment of 1 to 2 hours a week.
Keep a schedule - Sessions are to be scheduled at a mutually convenient time with you and your student. It is critical sessions start promptly and end on time.
Provide feedback - we would love to learn how it is working for you! We ask for:
5 min post sessions survey to completed after each session via email or voice recording
45 min In person interviews once a week to review your student group
Ready? We would love to chat with you more!
